Kenneth P. Lohrentz was the Africana Bibliographer for the University of Kansas for twenty three years from 1984 to 2008, and again for several years after his retirement. He dedicated his work to enriching the Africana Collections at KU – 78,000 volumes of African fiction, poetry, drama, non-fiction, maps, newspapers, and periodicals in various languages. Ken received his PhD in history from Syracuse University in 1977 and was one of the founding members of MAAAS.
